Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know about The Article — what it is, how it works, and what to expect when you join.

What is The Article?
The Article is a personalised weekly briefing on the topics you actually care about. Each Sunday you receive a single edition written specifically for you — not an algorithmically ranked feed, not a generic digest, but a concise, well-researched newsletter shaped around your interests. Think of it as a foreign correspondent who covers only your beats. Read more about why we built it.
How often does it publish?
Once a week, every Sunday morning. You receive one edition — long enough to be substantive, short enough to read over a single coffee.
Can I choose my own topics?
Yes — that is the whole point. During sign-up you tell us what you want to follow: artificial intelligence, climate policy, Japanese architecture, early-music performance practice, whatever matters to you. The briefing is built around your list, not a preset menu.
How is it different from a newsletter or an RSS reader?
A newsletter is written for an audience of thousands. An RSS reader dumps raw headlines into a river. The Article is neither: it is a single document written for you, that synthesises developments across your topics into coherent, readable prose — with context, significance, and the occasional opinion. Think Monocle or the FT weekend, but on subjects you chose. Browse sample editions to see the difference.
What topics can I add?
Almost anything with a meaningful flow of news or writing: technology, finance, geopolitics, climate, science, culture, cities, sport, history, design. If there are articles being written about it, we can brief you on it. Niche topics are welcome — that is what we are here for.
How does the AI research work — is it just summarising headlines?
No. For each topic the system reads primary sources — papers, longform journalism, official reports — not just news wires. It then writes a narrative that situates the week's developments in a broader context: why this matters, what it connects to, what to watch next. The output is reviewed for coherence and accuracy before delivery. We treat the AI as a researcher and editor, not a copy-paste machine.
Is my data safe? Who sees my email?
We store your email address and topic preferences to produce your briefing. We use Anthropic to generate the content and Loops to deliver it. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
When does paid pricing start? What's included in the free beta?
The Article is free during the current beta. Early subscribers will receive a founder discount when paid plans launch. The free beta includes the full weekly briefing on all your topics — nothing is paywalled or limited during this period.
How do I unsubscribe or change my topics later?
Every edition includes a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. To change your topics, reply to any edition — we will update your profile manually during the beta, and a self-serve settings page is on the roadmap.
